In 2017, nine cruise ships came to Cleveland. Last year, 19. In 2019, 29 are scheduled to dock at the Port of Cleveland, from May through October.
Most are Victory Cruise Lines, where nine-day tours between Chicago and Toronto start at $4,000, all inclusive. Victory Cruise Lines added Cleveland to its itinerary in 2017, and it ended as guests’ second favorite port, after Mackinac Island.
“They love Cleveland, and it’s always a surprise,” Victory Cruise representative Nancy Leach said last year. “They rave about the tour and they rave about the tour guides, and they rave about the friendliness.”
You can volunteer to show the 7,250 expected guests a good time in Northeast Ohio.
For most arrivals, Destination Cleveland organizes volunteers to welcome passengers as they board Lolly the Trolley for personalized tours, including of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They clap and hold signs like, “Welcome to the Land.” And the Singing Angels serenade the tours with old-time hits like “Blue Skies.”
Each ship has 80 to 200 passengers.
